The Waiheke Waka Ama Club is established to increase health fitness and awareness of Maori and Polynesian culture. The WWACI also encourages young people to join the sport and increase awareness of Waka Ama in the community. The club has a mix of women's, men's, and mixed teams that train and compete together as well as a strong junior element with a midget and intermediate teams competing at Nationals each year.

We don’t have a dedicated website, just a section on the NZ Waka Ama website https://www.wakaama.co.nz/clubs/lookup/86 The easiest way for people interested in giving paddling a try is by going directly to our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/Temotuarairoa/ or searching on ‘Waiheke Waka Ama Club’.

Facebook and team group chats over Microsoft Messenger tend to be the way events are highlighted and we are looking at starting up kids paddling shortly in preparation for the National Sprint Championships at Karapiro in Feb 2020. There will be a dedicated training afternoon during the week and possibly weekends.

Upcoming events the club will be participating in:

- 9th Nov 2019 - Cathedral Cove Challenge

- 12th - 18th Jan 2020 - Te Wānanga o Aotearoa National Sprint Championships Lake Karapiro

- 15th - 16th Feb 2020 - Takapuna Beach Cup

- 22nd Feb 2020 - Te Heke Waiheke Island Circumnavigational Race
